Plagiarism Policy
ICAIOS: Journal of Malay World and Indian Ocean Studies takes plagiarism seriously and upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source without proper citation
- Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work (without attribution)
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one's own previously published content without disclosure)
The editorial team will handle all cases of plagiarism according to the following procedures:
- If plagiarism is detected during the initial screening, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision or outright rejection depending on the severity.
- If plagiarism is found after publication, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions which may include issuing a retraction, correction, or expression of concern.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submissions. By submitting a manuscript to this journal, authors affirm that their work is free from plagiarism and has not been published elsewhere.
