Focus and Scope

ICAIOS: Journal of Malay World and Indian Ocean Studies is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing scholarly research on the Malay World and the Indian Ocean region, with a particular focus on four main areas:

  • Art and Humanities
    Including studies on literature, visual arts, performing arts, cultural heritage, historical narratives, and philosophical thought in the Malay and Indian Ocean worlds.

  • Regional Politics
    Encompassing political dynamics, governance, diplomacy, maritime security, and geopolitical developments affecting the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian regions.

  • Peace and Development Studies
